Kyrenia Castle – A Journey Through Cyprus’ Coastal History
Kyrenia Castle, also known as Girne Castle, stands proudly at the entrance of Kyrenia Harbour and is one of Northern Cyprus’ most iconic historical sites. Originally built during the Byzantine period and later expanded by the Venetians and Ottomans, the fortress has played a central role in the island’s defense for centuries.
Today, visitors can walk along the high stone walls, explore ancient towers and chambers, and discover incredible exhibits such as the Shipwreck Museum, which houses one of the oldest trading ships ever found.
