IDA CMAS TL1 Dive Instructor Course – Your Path to Professional Certification
As a certified Open Water Scuba Instructor (IDA / CMAS TL1), you are authorized to independently teach beginner divers and conduct official examinations.
Even if you don’t plan to teach right away, this course offers you advanced confidence, deeper understanding, and greater responsibility in diving.
All IDA CMAS TL1 dive instructor course components – theory, preparation, and exams – are completed in Cyprus. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine professional development with a relaxed diving holiday.
IDA CMAS TL1 dive instructor structure and content
Theory and teaching practice
The theoretical part of IDA CMAS TL1 dive instructor is delivered via e-learning and live online workshops. Content is based on your previous training (e.g. Diveguide, Assistant Instructor) and extended with teaching methodology and applied learning.
Exam components
- Multiple-choice test (topics: physics, medicine, equipment, diving skills, environment, decompression, standards)
- 15-minute teaching presentation (via video submission)
- Practical exam: 6 open water and pool dives
Practical IDA CMAS TL1 dive instructor training includes:
- Leading student exercises (Skill Circuit)
- Conducting introductory dives
- Teaching scenarios: buoyancy, group control, SMB use
- Underwater navigation
- Safety and rescue: air sharing, emergency ascent, deep diver rescue, TSR circuit
Optional IDA CMAS TL1 dive instructor preparation days in Cyprus
- For even better preparation, we offer two additional training days on-site (upgrade: €349).
- These days cover all exam-relevant topics under real conditions – clear visibility, stable weather, and personal guidance.
- All dives are scheduled so that your afternoons are free after around 14:00 – ideal for relaxing, holiday time, or family activities.
- You can choose your preferred timeframe when booking.
Entry requirements
- Minimum age: 18
- Valid medical certificate for diving
- Certification: IDA Diveguide, Assistant Instructor or CMAS* (or equivalent)
- First aid and CPR certification (e.g. SK „Medical Practice“)
- At least 150 logged dives
Missing one of these? No problem – we can integrate it into your training plan or complete it beforehand.
