Choirokoitia – Step into Prehistoric Cyprus
Before temples and castles, before the age of myth – there were stones, fire, and the dawn of civilization.
This private tour takes you to Choirokoitia, the most important Neolithic settlement in Cyprus and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that dates back to around 7000 BC.
Set on a quiet hillside, this reconstructed ancient village invites you to imagine a time when humans first built homes, grew crops, and formed communities.
With original ruins and carefully recreated roundhouses, it’s a journey into the very beginnings of Cypriot history – long before the gods arrived.
This isn’t just archaeology – it’s a walk into humanity’s first footsteps on the island.
Book your step into the Stone Age today
Your private tour begins with a short drive into the gentle, green landscape of southern Cyprus.
Soon, you’ll arrive at the site of Choirokoitia, perched along a river valley and surrounded by quiet hills.
Guided by your expert (English or German-speaking), you’ll walk through the ruins of an ancient settlement that once held over 600 circular stone houses.
You’ll learn how early people lived, how they farmed, built, and even buried their dead within the village walls – practices that still shape our understanding of early society.
The site features both excavated remains and faithfully reconstructed dwellings, giving you a powerful visual experience. Step inside a round mud house, sit where ancient Cypriots may have cooked or slept, and let your imagination roam.
The setting is calm, scenic, and rich in atmosphere – a beautiful place to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with history in its purest form.
Tenta – The Oldest Neolithic Settlement in Cyprus
Discover as well Tenta, one of the oldest Neolithic sites in Cyprus, dating back to around 8000 BC. Located in the beautiful Vasilikos Valley near Larnaca, this ancient hilltop settlement predates even Choirokoitia by nearly a millennium. Protected today by its distinctive tent-shaped roof, Tenta reveals the circular remains of stone houses that once formed a thriving community at the dawn of Cypriot civilization.
On this private and fully personal tour, it’s just you and your companions — no other guests. Explore the site at your own pace while your guide shares fascinating insights into how the island’s earliest inhabitants lived and built their world.
Experience the quiet beauty and deep history of Choirokoitia and Tenta, where the story of Cyprus truly began.
This tour is short, focused, and ideal for those interested in archaeology, anthropology, or simply something truly different.
